What We Do in the Shadows is an American mockumentary comedy horror television series created by Jemaine Clement that premiered March 27, 2019, on FX. The second television series in the franchise based on the 2014 film of the same name written by Clement and Taika Waititi, the series follows four vampire roommates in Staten Island, and stars Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén, and Mark Proksch.

How is there no forum for this, it's season 3 for crying out loud?

Re: What We Do In The Shadows [Comedy Horror, Mockumentary]

I marathoned this show in spurts, started last summer, it was mid way through season 2, so I never commented on it.  The season 2 finale was such an amazing lead up, with one of the greatest season ending punch lines of all time:

Spoiler

Death everywhere, then Nandor says: "Guillermo, is there something you haven't been telling us?  My name's Guillermo de la Cruz.  I don't care what the fuck your name is, we had to pick up our own laundry!" lol  I could've swore Nandor said, "Did somebody forget to pick up the dry cleaning?" on the version I watched, and then roll to credits.  Hmmm, do they air, different versions?  Possibly the Mandela effect again.

Season 3 has been more punctuated and procedural in it's story telling, not one episode that was as good as the first two seasons, but still really funny even if it's lost a little freshness.

For the people who are watching this show and all caught up, in 309:

Spoiler

Colin Robinson the energy vampire actually died, and Laszlo's lead up through the season was an interesting serialized storyline we didn't know was happening, but do you think they will just bring Colin back or was that a wrap on Mark Proksch?  He's so damn funny.  Love the concept of the guy who bores you to death in the office and drones on all day, is actually an energy vampire, sucking up your energy and quite literally killing you if you give him an audience. Lolz.  lol

Such a good show.
A must watch if you enjoyed the film but even if you haven't, there's nothing else like it.

It's so funny, it's addicting, I love it.

Re: What We Do In The Shadows [Comedy Horror, Mockumentary]

310 was kinda boring, and wasn't nearly as epic as previous season finale's, but it was in keeping with how the season played out.

Spoiler

The painting scene was kinda boring too.  I loved the fight scene between Gizmo and Nandor, very funny.  Answered my question about Colin Robinson I guess, lolz.  They'll all end up back at the house somehow, pretty sure they don't have the budget to change sets.

Re: What We Do In The Shadows [Comedy Horror, Mockumentary]

401 kinda undermined and deflated the build up of season 3, that said, What We Do In The Shadows is still one of the best things to come out of Toronto.  lol 402 and 403 were pretty good.

I was kinda surprised they continued this show after S2 and S3 shows they are committed tongue
Colin was lazy writing imo

Ya, it's so predictable and purposeless there's a lot of deflated suspense, but I still enjoy the banter. wink

Yeah, i enjoy it but hes not a part of all of it. Insisting on saying vampires and energy vampires is so silly...

lol hahaha! big_smile The whole show is pointless and silly.  Zero character development.  It's a gimmick inside a gimmick. lol  If the banter isn't good, neither is the show.  The entire appeal rests on the quality and delivery of the lines and performances, and not the (non-)story.

Re: What We Do In The Shadows [Comedy Horror, Mockumentary]

Season 5 is amazing.

5x4 - The Campaign - You guys gotta watch this episode, so funny, a meeting of the energy vampire council that nearly kills Colin Robinson, in a grungy basement, everyone is interrupting everyone, nothing is working, they're tied up:

Colin - "My god, they are fantastic."
Evie - "Ya, this is awful."
Colin - "Listen, if we don't survive this, I just want you to know I've always loved...."

Perfectly cast and brilliantly performed scene.  Hannibal Buress, Greg Turkington, Aparna Nancherla, Jo Firestone. Amazing.

lol

Yeah, I was somewhat hesitant to start season 5 for some reason.
Maybe I just imagined they would run out of steam with the show, but nope!
Still as great as ever.
And yeah that episode was next level haha.

Re: What We Do In The Shadows [Comedy Horror, Mockumentary]

I just finished season 4, I hate the characters but like the show.

...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

I'm really surprised that its continuing into a 6th season, I thought that last finale would have been a solid series ender.
